Server configuration and performance tips

I’ve found today two interesting articles with tips how to improve the performance of your servers. I’ll post them here for future reference and also maybe some of you are interested.

The first article is Configuring Fedora 13 PHP/MySQL Server with Nginx and reverse proxy to Apache and it gives a pretty neat overview and step by step instructions on how to install and configure a server with Nginx and a reverse proxy to Apache.

The second one is about mod_pagespeed : Accelerate Web Pages automatically using Google Mod Pagespeed. I have to say i’m already using mod_pagespeed on some of my sites but the feeling is that this module still needs work. Sometimes works like a charm, in other cases just crashes my server.
