An insight into me – meet my new personal blog

This blog was intended to be my personal blog. But during the last years it became more of a technology blog and the main subject is TYPO3 and web development. This attracts a certain kind of visitors who are not that much interested in my personal life.

There is also another kind of visitor who is more interested in other things about me and not that much about technology or TYPO3. So after thinking a little about it i decided to create another blog for my non technology related thoughts. That blog is called Insight into Me and you can reach it on the following address: http://insightinto.me

This blog will focus from now on only on TYPO3, web development and maybe gadgets or industry news commented by me. For my personal side, head over to the new blog.

Blogging with Windows Live Writer

I just recently discovered Windows Live Writer and i must admit i like very much the idea to use one tool to update all my blogs from one central place!

But the centralization is only one thing. There are lots of other things that make blogging easier. For example you have several plugins to insert just about anything in the blog, from pictures to videos and from maps to code snippets. And if that is not enough you can extend Live Writer with plugins available from the vendor or from third parties.

Formatting text and arranging content is also easy, when setting up your blog in Live Writer the software just imports your template and you have the blog template behind (like a background) when you write the blog post. It just feels like frontend editing!

I just have a feeling that this will boost my blogging productivity in the next period.

The hour of the wolf

Three months have passed since i last wrote on this blog. A long time you might say! For me it feels like it was just an hour ago when i wrote the last post.

What have i done and why i was away ? Well, the short answer is that i was busy, traveled alot and had some very rough encounters with life during this period.

I won’t make any promises about writing more often or writing at all. But there is one thing that is certain! Nothing will be the same as before. Not even this blog.

I just put up a new wordpress theme for my blog. I like it although i am not a fan of colorful themes. Sure thing there are bugs here and there and if you find one i would appreciate reporting it to me by leaving a comment to this post.

Upgrade to WordPress 2.5.1

I upgraded the blog today to WordPress 2.5.1 The upgrade process is really simple, you just copy the new files to the server overwriting the old files and then running wp-admin/upgrade.php. At least this should have been the ideal upgrade path. But when i finished the upgrade the server threw at me an Internal Server Error page and i couldn’t do anything. The solution for this problem is to delete the .htaccess file and then open the blog administration and update the permalinks settings (be sure to set it as it was in previous installation). After you update these settings, a new .htaccess is created and things work ok from this point.
